Washington, D.C. engagement & policy advocacy
SOUL
maintains an active presence in U.S. policy circles, engaging directly with the institutions and individuals shaping decisions on Lebanon and the broader Middle East.
Our work includes briefings with congressional offices, dialogue with the U.S. Department of State and other federal agencies, and collaboration with bipartisan policy organizations and think tanks. Through these channels, we provide timely perspectives on political, security, and regional developments affecting Lebanon.
SOUL
also contributes to crisis communication, public messaging, and civil peace initiatives, helping ensure that complex developments are understood with clarity and that Lebanese concerns are represented in serious policy discussions.
Romeo Lahoud was a prominent Lebanese composer, theatre director, lyricist, and producer, born in 1931 and died in 2022. He was a major figure in Lebanon’s golden age of musical theatre, helping revive and modernize Lebanese folklore through large-scale musical productions. L'Orient Today + 1
He created 30+ musical productions and worked with stars such as Sabah and Salwa Al-Katrib, with performances reaching venues including Paris’s Olympia and major festivals in the Arab world.

Aline Lahoud is a Lebanese singer and actress and the daughter of singer Salwa Al Katrib and producer Nahi Lahoud.
She has performed in musical theatre, television, and music and was selected to represent Lebanon at Eurovision 2005, although Lebanon ultimately withdrew.
She is also connected to the Lebanese theatre tradition of Romeo Lahoud through her artistic family.
Aline participated in the SOUL Christmas party in Beirut, along with many Lebanese artists, educators, media personnel, journalists, and SOUL members. Watch
Assad Rechdan is a veteran Lebanese actor and voice performer, born on 31 August 1953 in Amchit, Lebanon.
A graduate of the Lebanese University with a diploma in theatrical arts and acting, Rechdan has worked across stage, television, radio, and film for more than five decades.
Rechdan spent 15 years in the United States, where he obtained American citizenship before returning to Lebanon to continue his artistic and public activities. In addition to his media and acting work, he has engaged in civic and community initiatives, including participation in SOUL4Lebanon events supporting social outreach and cultural engagements.
Rechdan remains an active and respected figure in Lebanese arts and public life, recognized for his enduring commitment to culture, community, and national identity. Watch

SOUL
provides disciplined strategic analysis on Lebanon’s political and security landscape, delivering timely briefings to congressional offices and committees and maintaining direct engagement with the U.S. State Department, USAID, and federal agencies. We collaborate with bipartisan think tanks to ensure that U.S. policymakers receive clear, actionable insight grounded in on‑the‑ground realities.
All advocacy reflects long‑standing U.S. objectives: a stable, sovereign, and democratic Lebanon capable of resisting foreign interference and safeguarding its citizens. SOUL’s mission is to illuminate emerging dynamics, strengthen informed decision‑making in Washington, and contribute to a Lebanon where sovereignty and institutional stability are durable.
Washington DC Activities
SOUL also conducts professional engagement programs that deepen understanding of U.S. institutions and strengthen Lebanese–American cooperation. These initiatives help Lebanese partners navigate the U.S. policy environment through tailored orientations on the legislative process, targeted policy briefings, meetings with congressional staff and committees, and visits to leading bipartisan think tanks.

Leaders of the free world matter for Lebanon
Relationships with world leaders matter for Lebanon and its well-being. However, Washington is central to SOUL’s long-term strategy because it brings together the institutions that shape U.S. foreign policy, congressional priorities, international diplomacy, and global public debate.
Maintaining a credible presence there allows SOUL to move beyond episodic advocacy and build sustained relationships with policymakers, institutions, experts, and opinion leaders whose decisions can directly affect Lebanon.
Our goal is to establish SOUL as a trusted and enduring point of reference on Lebanese affairs—one capable of translating realities on the ground into informed policy engagement and connecting Lebanese concerns with the institutions that can help shape meaningful outcomes.
In this role, SOUL serves as a bridge between Lebanon and Washington, strengthening understanding, continuity, and strategic dialogue over the long term.

advocate for international pressure to unblock the investigation, protection of judicial independence, accountability for all responsible parties, and recognition of August 4 as a national and humanitarian catastrophe.

SOUL Conference, Washington, DC & Beirut, June 2021
The 2021 Washington–Beirut Conference marked a pivotal moment for Lebanese diaspora mobilization. Held simultaneously at the Grand Hyatt Washington, D.C., and the Padova Hotel, Sin El Fil, this three-day hybrid event brought together over 100 distinguished speakers. MPs, ministers, judges, activists, journalists, academics, and policy experts converged to address critical topics including regional conflicts & the Abraham Accords, UNSCR 1559, 1680, and 1701; constitutional reform & judicial independence; corruption & financial collapse; human rights & women’s empowerment; and the Syrian refugee crisis. This conference underscored our commitment to fostering robust discussion and actionable solutions.

From June 23–25, 2021, SOUL organized a historic three-day hybrid conference connecting Washington, D.C., and Beirut.
This landmark event brought together U.S. and Lebanese policymakers, former MPs and ministers, judges, attorneys, constitutional experts, human rights advocates, journalists, academics, civil society leaders, diaspora organizations, and cultural figures.
The conference addressed Lebanon’s existential crises and produced a unified reform agenda, leading to major outcomes such as the formation of the Lebanese American Coordinating Committee (LACC), a unified diaspora advocacy strategy, and a roadmap for reform and sovereignty.

Humanitarian Activities
SOUL4Lebanon participates in numerous humanitarian initiatives across the country, including donating essential items to Civil Defence units, providing food assistance to refugees, and distributing gifts to senior citizens. One of these community‑focused events was carried out in coordination with Kelna Ayleh, strengthening joint efforts to support vulnerable populations.
Kelna Ayleh is a Lebanese non‑governmental organization founded in 2019 to deliver aid, social support, and sustainable development projects to communities in need across Lebanon.
Its mission is to combat inequality and injustice by equipping individuals with the tools and opportunities necessary to grow and thrive with dignity.
Its vision centers on empowering communities through social assistance programs and long‑term development initiatives that ensure access to basic needs, healthcare, education, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
